Built-in Imaginations

Why is it that when I move a piece of furniture out of the ordinary my kids interpret it as time to go crazy? For example, this afternoon I placed the ottoman on the couch so I could vacuum up popcorn kernels, stray animal cracker crumbs, crayon wrappers, and pieces of onion skin off my family room carpet. Wendy immediately screamed in excitement which drew the attention of the rest of the kids. The ottoman suddenly became some sort of slide/plank and the family room floor a giant "lava pit" which caused princesses needing to be saved by boy heroes as the mean sucking monster roared.

I'm glad they had a good time and that they are all tired and snug in bed as the lava transforms back to regular carpet. Oh, to be a kid again!
