Our First Zucchini

Zucchini is not a vegetable I often buy at the grocery store, so today I offered a prize of a small bowl of mini marshmallows to any child that was willing to try a slice of our home grown zucchini. The winners were Emily, Wendy, and Jason who enjoyed the vegetable. Sarah and Bradley weren't brave souls, but Sarah offered an alternative and said, "Mommy, I have an idea. How about if Bradley and I drink a whole glass lemonade and we get marshmallows?" She was so proud of her ingenious idea and was so disappointed when I vetoed it.

I know I am such a lame blogger when I have company in town. My parents leave tomorrow and then I should be back on track and able to catch up on the past week's details.

  1. we LOVE zucchini!! Seriously, make some zucchini bread and your kids will ALL love the stuff! During the summer we put it in just about anything, because it takes on the flavor of whatever is around it. It's a great filler!! And, since you are growing it, you will have TONS AND TONS! Get ready for zucchini bread, cake, enchiladas, soup, pasta, grill it, anything really. You are set now! :)

  2. We here in Denver only have two leaves per plant and not even a thought of a flower. I am completely jealous. Oh yea, the local rodents keep taking bites out of the leaves too. That zucchini is a beautiful sight to behold.
