Isn't she beautiful?

The 0.5 horsepower Badger insinkerator

A friend came over on Thursday to help us install a new garbage disposal. And when I say help, he did the whole thing. All we did was sit and watch and help keep little helpers out of the way. He amazingly had the job finished in about 30 minutes. I'm sure it would have taken me at least 2 hours or maybe three. I won't let my husband attempt such a project. My husband prefers to labor in the virtual world. Lowes was charging $100 for installation. This only cost us an eggs and grits meal to feed the plumber. Thanks, Ian!

We bought the budget $80 disposal at Lowes. The next model up cost something like $160. The selling point was how quiet it runs. They even had sample buttons you could push to test the difference. I'll admit that it purred like a kitten and it was tempting, but is it really necessary to spend double the amount for an appliance that runs for maybe 15 seconds/day? I can assure you the increased decibels won't make much of a difference in this house. I love my new disposal! No more nasty kitchen trash can.

  1. You have to love friends who are willing to help you out and save you some hard earned cash! I don't know what I would have done without some good friends that helped fix my car a few times when Rich was out to sea. Have fun with your new little baby! :)
