White or multi-colored?

I used to be a white light sort of Christmas gal. But my kids are converting me to multi-colored. Two years ago I converted the Christmas tree to colored lights because I knew my grandmother was going to be at our house for Christmas and she likes colored lights. However, I still decorated with white lights on my garland on the outdoor porch railing. Ever since that Christmas my kids will not allow anything but colored on the tree. This year when I hung the garland, I realized that I was not going to have enough white lights because one strand died. Last year after Christmas I purchased six boxes of colored lights on clearance, so I used those to save myself a trip and $10 at Walmart. The kids are totally pleased. In their words, "Colored lights are soooo beautiful!!!" I have to admit that I think they look beautiful too. And I totally love our tree on the table idea!

  1. I prefer colored lights on the tree, but white lights if they're on their own. It's a very beautiful tree! You (and your elves) did a great job. :)

I had a tree on a table last year. Is there something attaching the tree to the wall/windowsill? I just have this horrible mental image of the tree falling over...

  2. It's a solid table and the tree stand is strapped to the table with bungee cords. I think it would take a lot to tip it over. I hope.

  3. Ah, I didn't think about attaching it to the table with bungee cords. Smart thinking!

  4. I prefer colored lights, because that is what we had growing up; I have fond memories of sitting around our oh so colorful tree and stringing popcorn. However right now, we have a pre-lit tree, so it is all white; we do have colored lights around our windows though, but not quite sure if I like that oh so tacky effect. The kids love it though.
